Due to the increasing popularity of Matcha Tea, the powder is finding its way into the shelves of large supermarket chains, and the selection is constantly inceasing.
However, should you buy Matcha Tea in supermarkets? We personally wouldn´t. We have taken a look and checked the products and brands that are offered by the supermarkets where we live, and we were not convinced. We do not want to share these products here as we only want to talk about products that we can recommend. However, what we can say is that you should order Matcha online. This is at least what we recommend. The reasons for these are simple:
Firstly, the selection of available products online is much larger. Especially if you are just starting with Matcha, it is important that you choose a good quality product and find one that you like. You can then start to explore other brands and products, but it would not be wise to start with a standard supermarket product, which might not even be certified organic. We always recommend that you choose organic Matcha, as it can be considered a "health food", and you do not want to risk anything by consuming Matcha that has been protected by using pesticides.
Secondly, you can better compare prices of different products online. This is especially important with Matcha, as Matcha is quite an expensive product. Especially if you are looking for the best product, you may want to make sure that you don´t pay too much. Especially when you are just starting to get into the Matcha topic, you may want to find out where the Matcha you are buying comes from (does it really come from Japan)? All in all, we recommend that you order your Matcha online. While there may be good products in health food stores or even supermarkets, these are probably higher priced than online and you have less possibilities to do research if you don´t order online.
